I thought I was eventually going to have to write about this and so I am. :D
Anywho, one of my teachers were talking about this and I really took it to heart.
He was just bagging on the phrase, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and the concept that beauty was relative. I kind of thought it WAS relative but after his explanation, I completely changed my view. I'm going to number the points so that it doesn't get confusing.
- All things have a value in terms of beauty ergo beauty is not relative.
- It is the responsibility of the viewer to recognize the beauty in beautiful things.
- So a person needs to be at a high enough level to appreciate some beauties.
- People who don't recognize beautiful things are just not at the level to appreciate them
So the people who think that ugly things are beautiful are just holding onto a corrupt sense of beauty which is so very sad. They are kind of straying away from beauty. They may have had the right idea, but they quickly got consumed by themselves and other ugly things so that their perception is twisted and corrupt.
Now, being the weird religious nut that I am, I started thinking about our perception of God and God's beauty. We truly cannot perceive God's beauty because the state of mind that we are in just does not allow us to fully appreciate and enjoy God's beauty to its fullest. HOWEVER, the more we grow in Christ, the more exposure we have to the unlimited beauty of God. So this is an encouragement to all to just keep yearning to grow more in Christ because you will see bigger and better things. God's greatness and beauty is inexhaustible, I promise. So don't be afraid to keep searching.
PostScript. I might start selling posters and shirts based on my phone art. I'm not planning on making it like a business, I'm just willing to sell on a request basis. I already have one request! :D
