today i learned a thing or two about responsiblity...

through the chore of washing dishes.

As a child, I never enjoyed washing dishes and I even neglected my duties as a son and brother which often got me in trouble with the mother.

However, today was a little bit different. As I was making my peach cobbler, I made a fantastic mess of the kitchen. There were dirty dishes everywhere and I had a lot of cleaning up to do. However, as I was cleaning up, I realized that I did not dislike this activity. In fact, it just felt like an obligation to wash the dishes because I made the mess. No matter how messy it was, I did not feel like complaining or running away. I thought this showed some growth on my part in terms of responsibility and such.

However, I realized that there was someone who washed the dishes even though they did not make the mess. That someone is the person who is MORE responsible than I. In order to reach this level of responsibility, you have to have a fair amount of love for those whose dishes you are washing.

My sister asked me to help with the dishes and I told her, "it is YOUR responsibility woman!" and now I know how terrible that makes me. It is also my responsibility as an older brother to do the dishes of my younger siblings. It is my responsibility as a human being to help another human being. And most importantly, it is my responsibility as a representative of Christ to exhibit Christ-like characteristics such as love and perhaps even responsibility.

All this to say that...I'm going to help my sister with the dishes tomorrow.

Today, a great friendship bound by long nights of AIM chatting and occasional chilaxing ended. It was glorious!

This Dark Fallen World of Ours

I was riding in my retro Toyota Tacoma and I heard something extremely disturbing on the radio. It was for EROTICA LA Convention and yes...it is a pornography convention. I wasn't disturbed because of the existence of such a thing. I knew pornography conventions existed but I was disturbed because of how publicly and shamelessly they were announcing it. They even had a porno-star come up and talk about the convention. This is what she said: "We really could not have done it without our fans." IT SOUNDS SO NORMAL!!!!! It could be anything! In this case, "fans" are dirty perverted folks that aren't too proud to be watching pornography.

This advertisement just showed me how much this world has fallen. Just when I thought it couldn't get worse, with the rape incidents and sex trafficking, the creatures of the dark known as the pornography industry just became that much more public. These dark creatures are being introduced into everyday society as if they are just normal citizens!

Well, that's my shpeel on that (no, I don't know how to spell "shpeel") and I hope that all of my Christian brothers and sisters aren't deceived by this wicked world's attempt to make the disgusting pornography industry look like a normal everything industry. It's not. The pornography industry is a creature of the dark that should be destroyed and sent to Hell. It's not something that we should accept and love and bring into everyday life.

That said, don't tell porno-stars that they'll go to hell. They're humans too. We should hate the sin, not the sinner right? That's it. Don't get deceived! :)

Ever since I wanted to be more encouraging, every post that I write that is not encouraging, I put "NO ONE IS EVER GOING TO READ THIS" on the bottom, I save it and I just don't publish it. haha.
