You Need Jesus

The answer to all life's question, I believe, is "You need Jesus." I am so sad that the meaning behind this phrase has been so watered down by the world either because it's been used comically in Bad Boys II or because the televangelists have completely destroyed it by carelessly using it in their sermons.

"You need Jesus" means so much more and it pains me to see that people, even many Christians, think it's a phrase that crazy Christians say.

I'm going to break down the phrase and try to reveal a small portion of the actual meaning of the phrase, "you need Jesus."

"You" - In the English language, they don't have plural or singular forms so this "you" may have multiple meanings depending on how you look at it.

Second person singular form. This infers that the relationship is going to be personal. It is only "you" and Jesus. You will have all the help that you need from Jesus without lacking.

Second person plural form. This means that you (singular) are part of a bigger whole. You are part of a community of people who are in need of Jesus. Or as I like to call it, the church.

"Need" - This word does not mean want, desire, or need but only when it is beneficial for me. It means that we cannot live without. In this case, it would be "to need ceaselessly".

"Jesus" - This is the name of the greatest man that has ever been thought of on this earth. Not only that, but he also walked on it. Corny, I know. But it has to be epic. This is the part where it is most misunderstood. Anybody can say, "You need money" or "You need girls". This is where it differs from everything other "you need"s and actually makes sense.

Jesus is a representation of what the Christ Jesus has done for us on the earth. For those of you who are unfamiliar, you might ask, "what exactly did this fellow do?"

I'll tell you.

Jesus the Christ lived a perfect sinless life, then he was crucified for all the sins of mankind so that we (mankind) might have a chance of making it to heaven after we die. But the thing is, Jesus the Christ was the second head of the Trinity, meaning he was God. This is where some might say, "you're crazy." I know. I know that it sounds crazy, but I believe it with all my heart and soul.

So, when one says, "You need Jesus," they are in fact saying multiple things. They are saying these things:
  1. You need to know that Jesus died for your sins so you can go to heaven.
  2. You need to accept Jesus into your heart so you can go to heaven.
  3. You need to live your life as if someone died a terrible death so that you can go to heaven.
Sadly, even at this point, some may be saying, "this is stupid, I hear this junk every Sunday." Well, then I would say, "you're not really hearing this junk every Sunday then. Unless you can take the fact extremely lightly that someone died not only for you, but for every single person that you love on this earth." If you can, it is a damned shame. I'm not cursing, it really is literally a damned-to-hell shame if you don't think you need Jesus.

In closing, I did even cover a speck of what anyone possibly can of what "Jesus" means. It means so much more than my amateur writing abilities can describe. Sometimes, I wish I was a beautiful poet or writer so that I can do "better" justice to Jesus than now. I say "better" justice because I know that even the most beautiful poet cannot write a line that comes even close to truly capture the true beauty of Jesus.

However, I hope that my fellow Christ-following folk might appreciate the magnitude of the phrase "You need Jesus". I also hope that my non-Christian readers might consider going out to church to learn more about this Jesus character. You need Jesus.
